What you need to know about the TIME x The Sandbox collab
Behold, TIME has just officially entered the metaverse! And this time (pun intended), the renowned media outlet will build its first-ever destination in the metaverse dubbed "TIME Square" on The Sandbox. To be exact, TIMEPieces - the NFT community initiative from TIME is teaming up with The Sandbox in this regard.
Nonetheless, taking inspiration from the iconic neighborhood in New York City, TIME Square aims to be the cultural hotspot in the metaverse. In fact, the destination will serve as the go-to place for all TIMEPieces holders, where they can join virtual discussions and events exclusive to holders.
“Our goal is to create a destination that will be the heart of the metaverse,” said Keith A. Grossman, TIME President. “Since launching TIMEPieces in September 2021, we have focused on developing a community in Web3 that benefited from the incredible 100- year legacy and access TIME has established."
"We are thrilled to now tap into that community as we seek to find the architect to design TIME Square in the metaverse, as we create an immersive experience with The Sandbox that provides a natural bridge between the virtual community of TIMEPieces, the historical coverage and global relationships of TIME, the unique IP coming from TIME Studios, TIME for Kids, and our real-life IRL events.”
Given that, TIME is looking for the right architect to help design and build TIME Square to perfection. In fact, the company will make an open call for architects real soon.
Anyway, if you ask me, The Sandbox is a virtual Manhattan as well in this case. Since its launch, the platform grew rapidly and secured more than 165 partnerships as of January 2022. Not surprising at all, since almost every big brand on Earth has been rushing in (and still is) to build on The Sandbox.
