Ubisoft Expands into NFTs with 'Captain Laserhawk' Avatars in The Sandbox Metaverse
Set to launch on November 29th, this NFT collection is inspired by Ubisoft's Netflix series "Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix."

Ubisoft, a major video game publisher, is expanding its presence in the blockchain space. They're introducing a new NFT avatar collection in The Sandbox, with the collectibles inspired by their Netflix animated series, "Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix."
The collection boasts 1,866 unique player avatars. These will be released as NFTs on Polygon, an Ethereum L2 scaling network. Iconic characters such as Rayman, Jade, and Pey’j from Beyond Good & Evil are included. These avatars will flaunt a futuristic, cyberpunk vibe, mirroring the Netflix series.
While these avatars are scheduled for release on November 29th, their pricing remains undisclosed. Ubisoft's previous venture into The Sandbox involved Rabbids franchise avatars. These were sold for 100 SAND each, equivalent to about $42.
"Captain Laserhawk" is an expansion of Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. It features characters from various Ubisoft franchises, like Assassin's Creed and Splinter Cell. This series underscores Ubisoft's knack for blending its gaming heritage with new media formats.
On top of that, the firm is diving deeper into the Web3 world. Recently, they announced a free NFT drop for their upcoming Champions Tactics game on the Oasys blockchain. In collaboration with Immutable, Ubisoft continues to explore the potential of blockchain gaming.
Ubisoft's journey in crypto gaming dates back to 2021 with the introduction of Tezos NFTs in Ghost Recon: Breakpoint. The firm has since supported various blockchain ecosystems like Cronos and Hedera, developed a game based on the Sorare fantasy soccer game, and released Rabbids avatars as Reddit NFTs.
