Web3 Game Launcher HyperPlay Acquires $12 Million in Series A Funding
HyperPlay will use the funding to bolster its position as a premier Web3 gaming platform and disrupt mainstream game store monopolies.

HyperPlay, a Web3 game launcher built in partnership with MetaMask and Game7, has raised $12 million in a Series A funding round. The round was co-led by Griffin Gaming Partners, BITKRAFT Ventures, and MetaMask's parent company, ConsenSys.
In a bid to create a Web3-native game launcher, HyperPlay was announced in November 2022 as a joint effort between MetaMask, the leading self-custody crypto wallet, and Game7, a DAO focused on producing Web3 gaming solutions. The platform allows users to carry a MetaMask wallet overlaid on top of every desktop game. Thus, expanding Web3 wallets' functionality in the PC gaming industry.
"HyperPlay ensures there is a home for open and developer-friendly games, encouraging technical innovation in games and accruing more value to developers versus traditional constructs. The platform will enable a better overarching user experience for gamers across all games, thanks to a persistent data layer for discovery, assets, profiles, [and] achievements," said Pierre Planche, Partner at Griffin Gaming Partners.
HyperPlay will use the funding to strengthen its offering as a leading Web3 gaming platform and extend its global reach. Unlike Apple and Steam, which impose 30% taxes on game developers, HyperPlay does not levy taxes on in-game economies. Instead, they will monetize their platform through optional features such as on-boarding and token swaps.
